Seeking Paraprofessional for the Upcoming School Year 
We are now hiring passionate people in Poulsbo, Washington for paraprofessional roles for the upcoming school year. These openings are 25 - 35 hours a week and would involve working with special needs students in grades K - 12. Please see below for more information. 

Job Summary : 

A paraprofessional is a non-certified instructional staff person who does not hold the position of teacher, but assists in the classroom under the guidance of a teacher.  Sometimes paraprofessionals are called teacher aides or instructional aides. The duties of paraprofessionals may include the following:

  • Providing one-on-one or small-group tutoring for students
  • Assisting with classroom management
  • Providing instructional assistance in a computer lab
  • Conducting parental involvement activities
  • Providing instructional support in the library or media center
  • Acting as a translator
  • Providing instructional support to a student under the direct supervision of a teacher

 

Qualifications:

  • Beginning with the school year 2019-20, all employed paraeducators must meet the following minimum employment requirements:

  • Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent 
  • In addition, a paraeducator must meet one of the following:

  • Have received a qualifying score on the Education Testing Service (ETS) paraeducator assessment
  • Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university
  • Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator, in a program registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council*
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
